Transit

Downtown Saint Paul offers a number of ways to get around that are both cost efficient and reliable. By using bus, light rail, bikes or walking you can find a simple and safe way to get to your destination.

Bike Downtown

Capital City Bikeway

The Capital City Bikeway is a network of bicycle facilities throughout downtown Saint Paul. The bikeway network will connect to existing trails and on-street bikeways, allowing people comfortable and convenient bicycle access to and through downtown.

Metro Transit Bike Amenities

All Metro Transit buses and trains have bike racks so you can pedal for part of your trip and ride for the rest. Every bus has a bike rack on the front bumper that accommodates two bikes. There are four bike racks inside each light rail car. Most Metro Transit stations have bike racks available for public use, in addition to bike lockers at select stations and Park & Ride lots.

Ride the Light Rail

The Metro Transit Green Line is an 11-mile light rail transit (LRT) line connecting downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. The line runs along University Avenue for much of its length, and serves destinations including the State Capitol, St. Paul’s Midway area, and the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis campus.

Take the Bus

Downtown Saint Paul is well served by Metro Transit bus routes, providing frequent connections from neighborhoods across Saint Paul, Minneapolis, and the broader region. Several local and express lines run through the downtown core. Key corridors include routes along 5th and 6th streets, as well as service connecting to the Green Line light rail. Whether traveling from nearby neighborhoods or commuting from farther out, transit offers a convenient and reliable way to reach downtown without needing to park.
