Join us to celebrate the launch of Sing Again: A Somali Lullaby Collection, a pioneering bilingual work documenting lullabies carried through generations by Somali grandmothers.

Marian Hassan, writer, educator, and Minnesota Heritage and Cultural Legacy Grant awardee, shares the journey of the Sing Again: Somali Lullaby and Oral History Project and the creation of its culminating book. The project documents a cherished Somali oral tradition and preserves the voices, songs, memories, and cultural wisdom of Somali grandmothers in a lasting collection.

Explore visual displays, artifacts, pages from the book, educational resources, and recordings of the lullabies. Meet the Somali Minnesotan grandmothers whose voices and memories are at the heart of Sing Again.

The evening will also feature academic collaborator Martha Bigelow, who will share how the project informed curriculum development and the importance of oral texts for language, learning, and connection.
