The event is free and will feature live music, vendors, arts and entertainment, the Community Griot Awards, scholarships and community. The event is from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the state Capitol in St. Paul. For more information, go to theanikafoundation.org/juneteenth.

In 2021, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners in St. Paul, Minnesota, declared Juneteenth a holiday.

The ANIKA Foundation partnered with Ramsey County to produce an annual Juneteenth Celebration to commemorate this historic event. We were issued a Proclamation by Governor Tim Walz and Secretary of State Steve Simon acknowledging the momentus occassion - one year after the murder of George Floyd and 100 years after the lynching of Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson, and Isaac McGhie, in Duluth, Minnesota.

Juneteenth is a community celebration that honors our culture, journey and contributions of People of African Descent in Minnesota ...in America. We celebrate our Ancestors, our food, our music, our families...our LEGACY! JOIN US!
