For one night only, join us for a theatrical reading of Nina! Madam to a Saintly City. In the sophisticated setting of the Gilded Age James J. Hill House, you'll find yourself immersed in the lore of St. Paul's legendary Madam.

Nina! Madam to a Saintly City is one of many plays written by Lance S. Belville, and preserved in his papers within MNHS Collections. Belville and his wife (director, producer, actor) Lynn Lohr, founded the award-winning History Theatre in Saint Paul in 1978.

Lohr herself will direct and join a diverse cast of talented readers, including Saint Paul’s Jim Cunningham, to bring Nina’s story to life for an evening of history and frivolity.

Nina Clifford was an affluent sex worker who contributed to the buildup of St. Paul’s downtown Red Light District in the late 1800s.
